Villa Verte (Available on Request)
High: 28,500 | Low: 22,500 | Peak: 56,000 per night
Nestled within the hills of Hout Bay, this sleek and contemporary hideaway peaks out through the forest with its back against the mountain, and spreads itself out towards the Constantiaberg mountains in the distance. Set on two expansive living-levels, with a long, curving art gallery at the core, four individual suites (two kings and two master suites) move off into their own, intimate, lavish spaces with expansive views over the valley. Cozy corners are tucked between built-in bookshelves and sturdy wood-burning stoves. Cavernous bathrooms with freestanding, state-of-the-art bathtubs and walk-in showers, are as enticing to escape to as the surrounding mountains.
Large sliding doors open out onto the terrace, where a heated swimming pool backs onto the forested hillside. The light streams in from outside, joining Villa Verte’s interior spaces together, as it travels through the high windows and glass doors, across its voluminous ceilings, drawing in plenty of warmth that toasts the abundance of natural timber. The surrounding trees encase the property, keeping it separate from its neighboring mother villa, Maison Noir, that’s sitting quietly in harmony below.
So for those extra-special occasions – when the whole family gathers together – there are two properties to choose from, without being on top of one another, and in each others’ bath robes. The enchanting grounds of Maison Noir lends its floors and walls to those who wish to celebrate in quintessential style. Whether it is a once-off, momentous multi-generational party, a family Christmas in the Cape, or an intimate, utopian wedding within the forested wilderness of the valley – whatever the motive of the gathering – there’s plenty of space, serenity, soul-soothing style and stillness all around both of the houses.
Villa Verte, with or without the companionship of Maison Noir, is a colorful, exciting place to retreat to with all of your favorite people gathered together, for the holiday fun to unfold and memories to be made. Villa Verte’s cantilevered bedroom suites were designed to incorporate the surrounding landscape, with sweeping views of the expansive mountains and sky from every room. It is yours to share with loved ones for holidays and special celebrations, to further business ventures, brainstorm with colleagues or to reconnect and to rejuvenate your soul. Tranquility is key here on this private estate and architect Thomas Leach has created a truly exceptional design that’s sensitive to the surrounding forest and mountain peaks above the valley of Hout Bay.
Striking wallpapers were chosen for each suite and each one is named after local plants or flowers. Taking its cue from the name Villa Verte, green and the colors of nature are the overriding theme throughout.
Curves and circles were used as nothing in nature is square or rectangular, even in its most cellular form. The owners love everything that the circle represents: equality, inclusivity, unity, sustainability and, of course, the circle of life.
AGAPANTHUS – GRAND MASTER
This master suite is the most spacious with its own lounge area and a private study adjacent to the bedroom (ideal if you need to keep in touch with your office while away) and a magnificent en-suite bathroom with gorgeous views. You’ll find it hard to leave!
EUCALYPTUS – MASTER
For those who love being up in the forest, this is the suite for you! The master suite configurations are more spacious and include a lounge area for private relaxation.
Striking wallpaper designs link each of the suites at Villa Verte and Sansevieria is no exception. An original by local artist Kurt Pio hangs under the window revealing mountain views behind. The view from your bed or private balcony is of the beautiful valley below.
The suite with the most expansive views of the valley, Strelitzia is equally soothing to stay in. Like all the other suites, it is light and airy and has both mountain and valley views. Each suite has its own private balcony.
